In brief

I was responsible for the digital transformation of a critical SaaS system, used to manage business data and research across over 80,000 lawyers worldwide. The goal was to improve system efficiency, enhance user experience, and optimise data flow by transitioning from a siloed, app-based infrastructure to a dynamic API-driven model.

Process

The project began with heuristic reviews of the existing systems, followed by running discovery sessions with users across various business department including research, insights and sales understand their specific needs. I then redefined the data flow, from research and collection to sales, which significantly improved project times for each division.

A key part of this transformation involved moving away from a system built on 12 separate web services and introducing dynamic API calls for more seamless data movement within a single app. I led the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to guide the development teams and ran remote usability tests, including Gorilla testing for large-scale quantitative data collection.

The system used Power BI to present the data collected to users, enabling them to track their performance, monitor progress, and create customized reports. This provided stakeholders with a powerful tool to visualize how they were doing in real-time and gain insights from the data. I also established KPIs and benchmarks to measure the success of the project and its impact on each business division. In addition, I developed a comprehensive SaaS brand and style guideline to ensure consistency throughout the project’s design and functionality.

Throughout the project, I worked closely with multiple development teams to oversee the implementation of new data capture, analytics, and publishing systems, ensuring smooth integration and improved functionality.

Conclusion

The transformation resulted in a more streamlined and dynamic system that allowed for seamless data movement and integration across departments. Task and project times were significantly reduced, increasing overall efficiency and operational success. The introduction of API-driven infrastructure and the new design approach enhanced the system’s usability, leading to a more cohesive and scalable platform for future growth.
